APPLICATIONS
NUSORB® CR adsorbent has proven performance for removing H2S, CS2, light mercaptans, i-Propyl mercaptan, t-Butyl mercaptan, sulfides, disulfides, COS, SO2, and H2Se (hydrogen selenide) from gases including 100% CO2 gas, and from hydrocarbon liquids. This adsorbent was specially developed for removing sulfur compounds from streams that do not contain oxygen, but it also works well in air. Maximum adsorption capacity for removal of sulfur compounds from hydrocarbon or inert gases, is 3 wt.%, as S. This adsorbent can be regenerated by superheated steam at 300-400 °C, followed by a N2 + O2 sweep to reactivate the impregnant to its active form. The steam cycle removes recoverable sulfur from the carbon. The impregnant in NUSORB® CR adsorbent is non-corrosive.

CAUTION: Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air. Thus, an asphyxiation hazard exists inside enclosed spaces containing activated carbon. Use appropriate safety precautions when entering vessels or other enclosed spaces containing activated carbon. Exposure to strong acids and oxidizers can cause formation of toxic H2S gas.
